Girls Group

The Special Education Girls Group would like to say a big thank you to the Brisbane Water Soroptimists for their support of our Personal Protection Program. The program is designed to equip the girls with skills to help them make safe decisions and become strong and confident. The girls thoroughly enjoyed learning basic self defence skills with Sensei Gabby and Sensei Josh from BBMA. They have become more aware of planning for safety and have developed their confidence in being active members of the community. An end of year celebration was held at Treetops Networld for the girls to challenge themselves and reflect on all they have learnt in the program. We had lots of fun and were so proud of the way the girls supported and encouraged each other.

Performing Arts

The Special Education Centre proudly took part in the Fair Go Talent Show at Wyong Art House on Monday 2 December. The Talent Show is put on to celebrate The International Day of People with a Disability, and is a great way to showcase an amazing variety of abilities.

The Signing Choir, Contemporary Dance Group and Country Dance Group all performed beautifully.

A big congratulations to the Country Dance group who were crowned best Group Act! A big thank you to Central Coast Council and Job Centre Australia for putting on such a great day.

Movie Day

On Friday 13 December, the Special Education students attended their Reward Day. The Reward Day was at Hoyts Erina where the students watched the film, 'The Addam's Family.' Thank you to Hoyts for their assistance as the unit was able to hire out the whole cinema for our students. The students enjoyed the film and a great day was had by all.
