House Athletics 2025

On Thursday 22 August the year 4-6 students and staff headed down to the Sandy Aths track for yet another year of hurdling, jumping, throwing, endurance running and sprinting.

Every student had the experience of running a 100m, 200m and 800m race, throwing a shot put and discus, having contests to throw the vortex as far as possible and long jumping into the pit as well as trying hard to Hop, Step and Jump! There were plenty of smiles as we handed out many, many ribbons and lots of resilience for those who didn’t quite get a ribbon. Everyone tried their best and had FUN in the somewhat windy and rainy conditions.

To begin the day, we had all our hurdle finalists compete in front of all the staff and students which is always a good start to the carnival and to finish the day we had a Staff vs House captains relay race.

The students from Beaumaris Secondary college helped out for the day with running some of our field events and did a great job.

The final House results for the day

1st Place- MOREY    538 points

2nd place- RESERVE  497 points

3rd place – MCDONALD 465 points

4th place – WOOD  402 points

Thanks to all the staff who helped out for the day to make it an enjoyable and happy experience for all students not just the sporty ones. Special thanks to Nicole Rainsbury, Jen B and Mrs Duffy for tabulating the scores and handing out ribbons. It was lovely to see Mrs Duffy handing the ribbons to all the students and being involved.

Those students who were the best across their year levels will now progress to the District Athletics carnival at Duncan McKinnon on Monday 1st September. This year we have a team of 67 students who will represent BNPS at this event. Congratulations to all those students.

Year 5/6 Intra House Athletics Competition

Throughout term 3 we have been celebrating the Athletics season and our year 5s and 6s have been having their own Intra House competition in our Friday morning sport sessions.

Each week students in their Houses rotate through 2 different events competing for the prestige of being House Champion. If you win an event, you receive 5 points, 2nd – 4 points, 3rd – 3 points and 4th – 2 points. Every other person who individually finishes the event receives a point for their House and individually.

These points are collated and added up over the 4-week rotations totally in 8 events and the individuals with the most points in their House become House Champion.

Write Up of Charlie

Charles D (Beaumaris North Primary School)

Big forward, very agile, can turn on a dime, and can sit in packs and take a grab but also when the ball hits the deck, he’s handy, kicks it a long way. Backs himself when having set shots and has strong hands.

Fantastic achievements Charlie.
