Staff Interview - Brooke Vincent

Interview with Brooke Vincent
Year 5 teacher
How long have you worked at BNPS?
I have worked at Beaumaris North Primary School since Mid 2021. I was a casual teacher to begin with where I was able to learn all about the school and students and fell in love with the school. I have since then taken on classroom roles in Year 5 and Year 6.
What inspired you to be a teacher?
I have always seen myself as a caring and compassionate person that enjoys working with younger people. I was inspired by my primary school and high school teachers. Their dedication to supporting my learning and pushing me to be the best learner I can made me want to help others with that.
If you weren't a teacher, what career would have you pursued?
If I wasn't a primary school teacher, I would continue with my pervious role as a Kindergarten teacher. If I was not able to teach at all, I would still choose to be in some kind of career where I am able to interact with people. I do love to travel, so being an airhostess would be an exciting job.
What is your favourite thing to do on weekends?
My favourite thing to do on weekends is spend time with my friends and family. Usually, I will be outdoors enjoying the sunshine with some furry friends, heading down to the beach or being crafty at home with my cat.
If you could go on a holiday anywhere in the World, where would you go?
I absolutely love travelling and have a lot of places on my list that I would like to visit. My next destination would be Japan. I love the food and culture and have never been before. I would go and climb Mt Fuji and eat at as many restaurants as I could.
What is something that your students might be surprised to learn about you?
Most students are surprised when I say I like to play PlayStation games. It has been something that I have love since my childhood. I would play all different kinds of games with my dad. We would verse each other in co-op games and laugh and smile for hours.
What recently made you smile?
Something that made me smile lately was spending time with my parents after they have been away for 8 weeks. I got to hear all the amazing places they went and the memories they made. It brought a big smile to my face to hear and to be able to enjoy their company again.
What would you like to say to the students at BNPS?
Kindness belongs in every moment. It’s the quiet choice to include, to listen, to care, even when no one’s watching. Every time you choose kindness, you make someone’s day a little brighter and our community a little stronger. So be the person who smiles first, who shares and who says, ‘come join us.’ That’s how we build a world where everyone belongs."
