Year 1 News

The Year 1 students have continued to enjoy our unit of inquiry, exploring how we express ourselves. They have looked at many different genres of stories and have written many stories of their own. These include fairy tales, dreamtime stories, fables and just so stories. They have discovered that;
Fairy tales are short stories typically featuring magic, enchantments, and fantastical beings like fairies, dragons, and talking animals. Often set in a make-believe past, such as a distant kingdom or enchanted forest, fairy tales usually include a clear hero and villain, a conflict to overcome, and a satisfying, often "happily ever after" ending.
Dreamtime stories often explain how the country, animals and people came to be as they are. They tell us when things were made, why they were made and how they were made.
Just So Stories are tales of how things in the world came to be as they are.
Fable stories are short, fictional stories that use characters who are often animals, to teach a moral lesson, which may be explicitly stated at the end.
To end our Unit the students published their very own books and brought their favourite stories to life making a life like diorama.
