Factual Narratives

 “I Speak for the Animals”

In our new unit, Sharing the Planet, Year 3 students have been busy becoming authors by writing their very own factual narratives.

Each child chose an endangered species and carefully researched their animal’s habitat, predators, threats, and other key facts to make sure their story was accurate as well as engaging. Using a Bold Beginning, Mighty Middle, and Excellent Ending, they created stories that introduced characters, settings, and complications linked to real-world threats, while weaving in fascinating facts about their chosen animal.

Students worked hard to bring their narratives to life, designing an eye-catching front cover with illustrations and even writing a short blurb for the back. The creativity and hard work that went into these stories really blew us away - they look amazing!

Mathematics – Data and Probability

Students have been having fun exploring data and probability! They’ve been generating their own data by asking questions to classmates and collecting information, as well as gathering information from online sources like the Bureau of Meteorology and Google Trends.

Students have also started investigating probability, using words like impossible, unlikely, equal chance, likely, and certain to talk about different scenarios.

St Kilda AFLW Visit

On Tuesday, the Year 3 students were lucky enough to be paid a visit by four AFLW St Kilda players! The kids enjoyed a Q&A session where they asked questions about training, game days, team positions, and how long the players have been part of the team.

Afterwards, the excitement continued out on the oval, where students had a kick with the players and showed off their own footy skills. It was such a fun and inspiring experience for everyone!

Swimming Program

Our Year 3 students have made a splash with the start of our swimming program and are having an absolute blast so far! They have shown great independence and fantastic behaviour, especially when travelling together, being respectful and kind to the bus driver and to each other.
