Books and Brownies

Our third Books and Brownies session was a great success on Wednesday 29 July. Another group of enthusiastic Year 7’s and 8’s gathered to discuss books over hot chocolates and brownies. There was also another round of Bookworm Bingo and we finished with the students having the first chance to borrow some great new titles before they went on display.

The next session will be a special Book Week edition on Wednesday 26th August. The sign-up sheet will be available the week before for students to sign-up. You’ll need to get in quick as there are limited spaces available.

House Reading Challenge Update

This year’s House Reading Challenge for students in Year’s 7 to 9 has been a roaring success. The introduction of Beanstack, an app that allows students to log their reading and the books they have read has been a huge success. Students can still also log their reading using paper slips to pop in the House Jars in the library – both go towards the final totals.

Our Community Goal of 83,000 minutes read was smashed at the beginning of term 3. It has now been updated to 150,000 minutes and with only four weeks to go until the end, it’s looking like this goal will also be surpassed. The pizza lunch for the winning house will also be open to individual students who have read 10 or more books over the challenge, these will be announced along with the House Winners at the end of the Challenge. Keep on reading everyone!

New puzzle

If you’ve been in the library lately, you might have noticed a new Rosetta Puzzle on the other side of the Wordmaster Puzzle. This number puzzle will test your brains. You need to fill all 7 Rosettas with the numbers from 1- 7 including the shaded area. You must also ensure that there are no double-ups of numbers in each row. Everything you need to solve the puzzle is on the board, and there are some hints up to help you get started. See if you can be the first to solve it.
