Term 3 Week 3b
In Term 2 the Wellbeing Team ran the Seasons for Growth program across three groups in Primary and Secondary School.
‘Seasons for Growth’ is a small group education program that supports children and young people to develop their knowledge, skills and attitudes in their experiences of change, loss and grief.
These experiences can include change of school, friendship changes, family separation, or loss or death of someone close to them.
Our participants had a great time growing in their understanding of their own feelings, thoughts and behaviours and learning that many of these are normal. In fact, they are not the only one that has these reactions!
The metaphor of changing seasons is a fabulous way to help kids think about changes. It recognises both the struggle and the joy and the constant changes in nature to help them see that each season has its own story. Students learnt that they can find ways to adapt and change to a new season and that no season lasts forever!
If you think your child/young person would benefit joining the Seasons for Growth Program, we encourage you to talk to them about it and perhaps join the next group (information below)
