AIEF Pathway Student Conference
Ten of our Australian Indigenous Education Foundation Senior Scholarship (AIEF), awardees recently flew to Townsville for our inaugural AIEF Pathways Student Conference. The students, from Years 10, 11 and 12, travelled with Director of Boarding Mr Toombs and me.
We were joined by nine of St Monica’s AIEF senior students and two staff members.
After landing in Townsville at 7pm, we settled into our accommodation and enjoyed an evening meal at the renovated Seaview Hotel on the Strand.
In the morning, we were taken to The Cathedral School of St Anne & St James to commence our day. Here we were introduced to our fellow AIEF students from both St Patrick’s College and The Cathedral School. In all there were about 50 students participating in the conference.
It was inspiring for all the students to meet and mingle with one another. A few caught up with cousins and relatives from their home communities. All the students benefitted from the conference which covered resume writing, AI usage and mock job interviews.
The conference will be held again in Term 4 at St Patrick’s College in Townsville.
Sincere thanks and appreciation to all AIEF staff, the teachers who attended and the students.
