Championing young people in a digital world – respectful relationships

On Monday, our Year 9 students attended an engaging and thought-provoking presentation by guest speaker Daniel Principe. Through a respectful and empathetic approach, Daniel challenged our young men to reflect on cultural expectations and encouraged them to strive to become the best versions of themselves.

His calm and considered presentation of sensitive topics created a safe environment where students felt comfortable asking questions and engaging openly in meaningful discussion.

The session provided valuable insights and practical strategies for navigating the complexities of relationships, sexuality and social media in today’s digital world, empowering students to make informed, respectful and responsible choices.

Year 8 & Year 9 camps

This week, our Year 8 and Year 9 students enjoyed their much-anticipated camps at Fitzroy Island and Sugarbag Station. These experiences continue to be important milestones in our boys’ education, providing opportunities for personal growth, resilience, independence and teamwork.

A sincere thank you to parents and carers for supporting your sons in preparing for camp. We also deeply appreciate the staff who facilitated these programs and those who supported classes and activities back at the College.

The role of parents in student development

Research consistently highlights the powerful influence parents have on their children’s development throughout adolescence. At Saints, we greatly value the active partnership we share with families in supporting each boy’s education and wellbeing.

Your involvement reinforces to your son that his education is important and supported both at home and at school. As a parent of three children myself, I understand the time, energy and commitment involved in supporting homework, assessments and the broader challenges of raising young men. Parents remain the first and most influential educators in a child’s life.

College uniform expectations

Wearing the college uniform correctly reflects pride, discipline and a commitment to the values we uphold at Saints. Recently, students have been reminded of the importance of presenting themselves in accordance with college expectations.

We encourage families to discuss uniform standards with their sons. Some students may require updated uniform items, including:

  • Properly fitting socks, worn approximately 5cm below the knee.
  • Shorts and shirts that fit appropriately.

If you have any concerns regarding uniforms, please contact your son’s head of year.

Haircuts and grooming

As we move through the second half of the term, we ask parents to ensure their sons maintain appropriate hairstyles in accordance with college guidelines (refer to p.13 of the student diary).

We kindly encourage families to arrange haircuts proactively, rather than waiting for reminders from staff. Regular grooming contributes positively to personal presentation and supports the high standards expected of all Saints students.
