Ozanam Leadership Program

This St Vincent de Paul Society program gives Year 10 and 11 students the chance to become compassionate leaders within their own community. The Ozanam Leadership Program is values and skills-based and encourages students to develop their own knowledge and skills that will add value to their community.

The program is named after the founder of the society, Frederic Ozanam. Frederic was a law student in France during the 1830s, and while walking to university saw many disadvantaged people along the streets. While debating this with his fellow law students one day, he was challenged by a fellow student to take action. Frederic recognised his inaction and started the St Vincent de Paul Society. Saints’ boys that are participating are Max Masterman, Jesse Stabile, Ziggy Groot and Joshua O’Farrell. Congratulations!

Ecological Project with Cairns City Council

The Year 8 back-at-school program this week included a collaborative project with the council during which students weeded along the Yellow Arrow trailhead track. It was a successful morning for both groups. The students commented that it was good to be able to give back the community with some service and that some time outdoors is a nice break from the classroom to learn about the environment.
