Shortlist for Global Essay Competition - Tanya Singh

"The Things We Lock Away, explores memory, generational silence, and the emotional weight carried through family heirlooms."
We’re delighted to share that Year 10 student Tanya Singh has been shortlisted in the APAC region for the Harvard Crimson Global Essay Competition. Inspired by a cultural tradition of passing down a bridal chest through generations, her piece reflects on how the past continues to shape the present.
Remarkably, this was Tanya’s first writing competition. After discovering the opportunity on compass, she independently developed and submitted her work, drawing on the confidence she has built through her strong creative writing at school.
A big congratulations again to Tanya on this incredible accomplishment, and we look forward to seeing more great writing as you blossom in your SCHS journey.
