SCHS Welcomes Jiangsu Delegates

"We hope - for both them and ourselves - that this is one step closer to truly celebrating diversity through connection."

We hear a lot about what community is supposed to mean, but sometimes it’s hard to see it in the hustle and-individualistic-bustle of the everyday. However, having these sweet guests join us from halfway across the world and connect with our school - despite not being fluent in the language - really made us realise that community is a language everyone is fluent in. And it doesn’t take a-lot to learn.

Our guests showed up with genuine interest, curiosity and a desire for connection, whilst sincerely appreciating the achievements of students they have never before met! Such an attitude truly moved us, and our own gratitude and appreciation has been renewed for our school and its community thanks to the attitude of our guests.

We truly thank them for putting in the effort to close distance over borders and form connections despite barriers, and we hope - for both them and ourselves - that this is one step closer to truly celebrating diversity through connection.

On Tuesday 17 March, Suzanne Cory High School was delighted to welcome a Jiangsu teacher delegation to our school for a day of professional exchange and learning. The delegation included 23 educators from 22 schools and education institutions across Jiangsu, China.

The visit began with a formal welcome and school introduction. Throughout the day, delegates participated in a series of sessions showcasing key aspects of teaching and learning at Suzanne Cory High School, including our pedagogical model and professional learning, student engagement and wellbeing programs, and curriculum and assessment approaches. Visitors also enjoyed a campus tour, classroom observations, and a school lunch accompanied by performances from our string quartet and choir.
