Learning in Year 2

Mathematics 

We have been exploring place value through practical activities, including making our names and animals using hundreds, tens and ones, and learning how numbers can be traded. We have also started learning new maths fluency games. We are beginning to look at 2D shapes and noticing how they are all around us in our everyday environment, with lots of creativity involved in our learning.

English

In English, we have been learning about recounts and enjoyed making pancakes and writing about the experience. We have also started writing narratives and are using our imagination to create stories. While reading picture story books, we have been exploring character traits, making connections and practising our predicting skills.

Integrated Studies

In Integrated Studies, we have been learning about Australia, including its landmarks, states and cities, and discussing places we would like to visit. We have also been exploring the Australian flag and learning about the different continents around the world.

Wellbeing

We have started URSTRONG, and the students have been really enjoying the lessons. We have also begun using our Friendology Journals and learning how to use a journal to reflect on our thoughts and friendships.
