Learning in Year 4

What's been happening in Year 4?
Wow! Time is absolutely flying by in Year 4. The students have been busy working hard and engaging in lots of exciting learning experiences.
The students have shown a great deal of responsibility with their positive approach to completing homework and remembering to hand this in each week
See below to find out what we have been up to and what we are looking forward to in the coming weeks.
Enjoy some happy snaps below!
English
The students have been busy working on creating their own narratives. Using the 7 Steps of Writing, they have been planning, editing and publishing their very own picture story books. It has been wonderful to see their creativity come to life as they develop characters, settings and exciting story events.
Students have also been practising their typing skills as they work towards publishing their stories. They are putting great care into drawing illustrations that match the beginning, middle and end of their narratives. We are very proud of the effort students are putting into their writing and can’t wait to share their finished picture books!
Maths
Students have begun their multiplication learning and have been enjoying learning songs to help them remember their multiplication facts. In class, we have been exploring number patterns and playing a variety of games to help reinforce and strengthen our multiplication skills in a fun and engaging way.
Ways you can help at home:
-Card games
-Times table songs
-Timed games
-In the car asking for the answer 2x7=14 or saying a number and having them give a multiplication sum for example 15 (children say 5x3)

Law and Order has been a real area of interest, with lots of interesting discussions happening in our classrooms about rules, laws and responsibilities. We are looking forward to our local Member of Parliament, Nick McGowan, visiting us for an incursion. Students will have the opportunity to learn about his experiences in Parliament and prepare questions for a Q&A session with him.
