Term 3
Once again, the students from Blackburn High School have displayed outstanding performances, indicating yet another remarkable term. The participation of the students in various competitions is truly commendable, with numerous teams competing across a range of year levels in sports such as Hockey, Basketball and Table Tennis.
The following teams won their Whitehorse competition and will progress through to the Eastern Metropolitan Regionals in term 4:
Year 8 Boys Basketball
Year 8 Boys and Girls Hockey
Intermediate Girls Hockey
Intermediate Boys Table Tennis team
Whilst the following teams competed at EMR earlier this term:
Senior Boys and Girls Hockey
Intermediate Girls and Boys AFL
Year 8 Boys and Girls Soccer
Year 7, 8 and Intermediate Girls Netball
Junior Boys Netball (State Champions)
This accomplishment wouldn't have been possible without the tireless efforts of our staff and student coaches. The leadership and dedication displayed by our senior students have not gone unnoticed.
As we embark on Term 4, a series of Eastern Metropolitan Finals awaits and the Whitehorse division round robins concludes for year 7 and 8s. We extend our best wishes to all the BHS students representing our school in these competitions.
Let's make the most of these final Interschool Sports days for the year and continue to shine on the field.

On Tuesday, 20th June BHS Year 7 boys took the field at Elgar Park in the EMR AFL Championship. Each school had 3 games in their pool consisting of 2x15-minute halves. The winning school in each pool would then play off in the grand final. BHS had convincing wins against Vermont and Ashwood, however, lost a crucial game against Norwood. Unfortunately, in these short games, a bad 5–10-minute patch and some decisions that didn’t go in BHS's favour proved very costly thus denying a grand final opportunity against Rowville. Despite the disappointment, BHS should be proud of their efforts overall winning 4 games and losing 1 in the 2023 season. Positively, the future looks bright especially when this group is in Year 9 and Year 11 as the year above is very talented.
Thank you to Assistant Coaches Brooke Smith (AFL Trainee) and Year 9 students Jake Stone and Fynn Waring-Jones.

On Tuesday, 18th July BHS Year 9/10 Inter boys took the field at Elgar Park in the EMR AFL Championship. Each school had 3 games in their pool consisting of 2x15-minute halves. The winning school in each pool would then play off in the grand final. BHS, unfortunately, was ravaged by the late unavailability of 7 players leaving the team decimated and undermanned with only 18 fit players to take the field. BHS had a strong win against Mount Waverley but went down convincingly to Ringwood and Forest Hill.
Thank you to Assistant Coaches Year 11 students Ned, Aiden, and Gabe.
