Year 10 Subject Selection – Supporting Students in Their Future Pathways

Our Year 10 Subject Selection Program and Student Interviews are an important opportunity to support students as they make decisions about their senior schooling, future pathways and aspirations.
In the last week, our Year 10 students have participated in individual subject selection interviews with Academic Advisers. These conversations have provided students with an opportunity to explore their subject choices, consider their strengths and interests, and ensure their proposed pattern of study is appropriate for their goals and abilities.
A key focus of the process is helping students make informed and realistic choices. Students accessed subject pathway maps, course information, the 2027/2028 Subject Selection Booklet, EVET information and were given recommendations for English, Mathematics and Science. Academic Advisers also ensured students understood the requirements and implications of their chosen pattern of study.
Where students are considering EVET, languages or accelerated courses, additional advice and information will be provided to ensure they understand the commitment and requirements involved.
A sincere thank you to Mr Evans, Head Teacher Secondary Studies and Mrs Reid, Careers Adviser for their leadership and coordination of the Subject Selection Program, and for their expertise and support in assisting students with their future pathways. I would also like to thank all of our Academic Advisers for giving their time, knowledge and care to support our Year 10 students through this important decision-making process.
These conversations can have a significant impact on students’ confidence, direction and future opportunities. Thank you to everyone involved for helping our students make choices that will set them up for success in Years 11 and 12 and beyond.
Together, we are helping our Year 10 students make informed choices about their future.
- Mrs Lord, Deputy Principal - Year 7 & Year 10
