Celebrating Science and Technology Day at Cecil Hills High School 

As part of National Science Week 2026, students in our Inclusive Education Unit took part in an exciting Science and Technology Day, celebrating this year’s theme, “Seeds of Science: Nurturing Knowledge for All.” 

The theme encourages us to think about how curiosity, questions and ideas can grow into knowledge and discoveries when they are nurtured, shared and explored together. This was at the heart of our Science and Technology Day, where students had the opportunity to learn through hands-on experiments, problem-solving and discovery. 

Students rotated through a range of engaging activities, including fossil making, veggie power, surface tension, water sanitation, Makey Makey music, chromatography, bottle rockets and exciting science demonstrations. Each activity encouraged students to ask questions, make predictions, test ideas and discover how science and technology connects to the world around them. 

Most importantly, the day showed our students that science is for everyone. Every question, experiment and discovery is a small “seed” of knowledge—and when we nurture curiosity and give students opportunities to explore, those seeds can grow into a lifelong love of learning.
