Road Upgrades

Road Works on Clyde Road Starting Tuesday 9 September

Please note that there will be roadworks at the intersection of Kangan Drive and Clyde Road that may affect your daily travel. These works involve moving underground services like water and power lines.

When and What:

 

  • Daytime (9am-5:30pm) on Tuesday 9 September: Traffic will be reduced to one lane on Kangan Drive and Sir Gustav Nossal (heading east toward Berwick Nissan)
  • Night-time closures (8pm-5am): The intersection where Kangan Drive meets Clyde Road will be completely closed on these nights:
  • Tuesday 9 to Friday 12 September
  • Monday 15 to Wednesday 17 September
  • Alternative routes: When the intersection is closed at night, you'll need to use Soldiers Road or Bryn Mawr Boulevard instead

 

 

What This Means for You:

 

  • Expect delays of up to 10 minutes
  • Allow extra travel time, especially if you use these roads regularly
  • Traffic controllers and signs will help guide you through the area
  • Works may be cancelled if weather is bad - they'll update you if plans change

Thompsons Road and Berwick-Cranbourne Road Intersection

Big Build Roads is upgrading the Thompsons Road and Berwick-Cranbourne Road intersection to ease congestion and improve safety.

 

Major closure details:

 

7:00pm Thursday 21 August - late December 2025

  • Thompsons Road westbound closed between Berwick-Cranbourne Road and Matterhorn Drive

 

 

 

Works include:

  • Relocating underground utilities and drainage
  • Building new westbound lanes and left turn slip lane
  • Installing traffic light infrastructure

 

Detour routes:

  • All vehicles detoured via Bells Road and Hardys Road
  • Expect delays up to 15 minutes during peak times

 

Access maintained:

  • Clyde North Business Park accessible via Matterhorn Drive/Hamersley Drive (up to 10 minute delays)
  • Emergency services can still access all properties
  • Surrounding businesses and homes accessible via detours

 

Preparation closure:

  • Thompsons Road between Berwick-Cranbourne Road and Laker Boulevard/Matterhorn Drive in both directions from 7pm on Thursday 21 August, with the eastbound lane reopening at 5am on Friday 22 August

 

Important notes:

  • Some bus stops temporarily closed - check ptv.vic.gov.au
  • Some noise expected during works - monitored to stay within acceptable levels
