In September, Year 7 student, Lyra Moxham, entered a short story competition organised by the Victorian Association for the Teaching of English (VATE). 

The competition’s theme was A Story in Miniature, where students were invited to submit short, sharp and tiny tales. 

We are pleased to announce that Lyra’s submission, Routine Procedure, was highly commended by the judges in the Year 7 & 8 category, being selected out of 150 submissions. Lyra was awarded a book prize pack for her efforts.

On a separate note, Lyra auditioned for and was selected to compete on the ABC show Hard Quiz earlier this year. Here is her reflection on the experience:

In August I was filmed on the latest season of Hard Quiz Kids, with the expert topic of orangutans. It was a very long audition process, but I had a great time learning all about my favourite animal. If you have watched my episode, I hope you have been inspired to help protect critically endangered orangutans!
