Australian Mathematics Competition

Jack Collins
Head of Learning - Mathematics
This year, 135 students participated in the Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC).
The AMC provides an outstanding opportunity for students to engage with challenging mathematical concepts, testing their problem-solving capabilities and their capacity to think creatively within the discipline of Mathematics.
I commend all students who took part; their involvement reflects a strong commitment to our school values of excellence, achievement and persistence. I also wish to acknowledge students such as Alex Nikolarakos, who undertook the competition for the first time at the high-school level.
More than 33 percent of our participants achieved a Credit, and a further 10 percent earned the exceptional result of a Distinction which places them within the top 20 percent of students in our region.
The students who received Distinction include:

This year, Eric Lee (Year 10) achieved a High Distinction, placing him within the top 3 percent of students in the region. Eric also earned the highest score in the school across all year levels.
The AMC is held annually and offers a valuable opportunity for students to challenge themselves and gain meaningful, exam-style experience in Mathematics.
If you are interested in participating next year or would like to review sample questions, please feel free to contact me or speak with your Mathematics teacher.
