Team Twilight

Lindel Bell
Executive Assistant
The recent Twilight Market, our major community event of the year, transformed the school into a vibrant hub of creativity, culture, and celebration. Well attended by students, families and members of the wider community, the evening showcased the breadth of talent and enterprise across the college.
The event continues to evolve every year in consultation and collaboration from across all facets of our school. This team delivers an event aimed at celebrating our Brunswick values, bringing us all together for an evening of fun.
A huge and very popular drawcard this year was the Media, Art & Design Exhibition, which featured an impressive and diverse collection of student work. Visitors were treated to a surprising and inspiring range of pieces, including visual communication design work, sculpture, and mixed-media artworks. The exhibition demonstrated both technical skill and creative risk-taking, reflecting the depth of learning occurring across the Visual Arts & Design learning area... as well as a breadth of talent! Patrons were thrilled to have yet another glimpse into the learning experience at BSC.
More than 30 stallholders and food trucks participated in the event. From handmade goods to a wide variety of food options, everyone reported a roaring trade throughout the evening, contributing to the festive and welcoming atmosphere. Our regular stallholders were back again - with big smiles and ever-popular wares - joined by some new faces to add diversity and interest to the market space. As usual, all the stallholders were singing the praises of our dynamic SRC team who were responsible for assisting the stallholders with setup, as well as lending a hand with pack up.

I would just like to say what a wonderful evening we had last Friday night. It was run so well and organised so beautifully we had no issues whatsoever. Mum and I would like to commend the students for their hard work and contribution towards helping all the stall holders with set up and pack up - it really made a great difference. Thank you to everyone for a wonderful evening and hopefully we will see you again next year!
This SRC team really did put in a stellar effort. Led by outgoing School Captain, Harper Hopkins, they were front and centre in welcoming patrons, providing directions, assisting stallholders, managing waste, having a dance, encouraging patronage and engagement and just enjoying the atmosphere - all the while brimming with Brunswick Spirit. And not only did the SRC make sure the market ran smoothly, the members also ran successful stalls to raise funds for 2026 SRC events! The Silent Disco was a MASSIVE hit with young, old (and in-between) alike! (Rumour has it, that one staff member spent the best part of 2 hours dancing the night away!)
Special thanks to senior SRC member Hendrix Gauci (2026 Media Captain) who managed the photography for the event and captured some fabulous moments for posterity!
BSC Parents' Association ran the bar and refreshments, cake stall, craft stall, silent auction and second-hand uniform sales - and were all kept well busy! The support and enthusiasm from these volunteers is unsurpassed, and the SRC team and school staff are most grateful for their efforts. Every dollar raised by the PA is funnelled straight back into school resources and projects that benefit our students, and the team made it look so easy!
Entertainment played a central role in the success of the night. Music and performances were proudly supplied by BSC students, who set the tone with engaging and polished performances. The program was further enriched by a fabulous guest appearance from the BNPS Italian Choir, as well as a vibrant cultural dance performance by BSC Chinese language students, which was met with enthusiastic applause.
Overall, the Twilight Market was a resounding success, celebrating student creativity, cultural diversity, and community connection, and reinforcing the school’s commitment to providing rich, authentic learning experiences both in and beyond the classroom.
We take this opportunity to sincerely thank Sally Goss (Assistant Principal) who both led and inspired an exemplary SRC team, and without whom this event could not have been staged.
Similarly, Allison Berry (PA President), Ed Berry, Tilly Boleyn, Karyn Di Florio, Sonia Ingham, Rosie Nicholson, Mel Pagliaro, Peter Parbery, Michelle Salvatore, Tracey Talko, Sally Thomas and Gill Ward (and their faithful volunteers) - parents and carers whose commitment to BSC inspires us every day.
Many thanks to staff members Nathan Fistric and the Instrumental Music teaching team, who (along with their talented students) kept the music playing. Thank you also to Jiawen Qu and Wanling Zhong (Chinese Language teachers), Rebecca Rowe and the teaching team of the Visual Arts & Design Learning Area whose talented students brought some culture to our event! Of course, mountains of gratitude go to Ray Stivala and Peter Burak who assisted with logistics required, before, during and after the event.
And finally - thank to the many students, families and friends who joined us at the Twilight Market to celebrate our community anwhat makes Brunswick great!
