Wellbeing

As we settle into the new school year, students have been learning about our school expectations. These expectations underpin all learning, both inside and outside the classroom, including online, and encourage students to have high expectations of themselves and others. At St Joseph's, our school expectations are:
- Do your best
- Respect others
Help others succeed
Wellbeing, routines and engagement at St Joseph’s is supported by our Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) approach. This means that we explicitly and regularly teach a range of actions from our school matrix. This term, students have focused on our first five actions through short, targeted PBL mini lessons held throughout the week. These lessons help students understand each expectation, practise it, and demonstrate the skill through social stories and role-play. Teachers use the weekly focus and award Dojo tokens, our school currency, to acknowledge students who demonstrate these behaviours. As the term continues we will continue to unpack the rest of our school matrix and promote positive behaviour at St Joseph's.
At St Joseph’s, we highly value family partnerships and collaboration. We strongly encourage parents and guardians to have conversations with their children about what Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) means and looks like at our school.
