Year 3 Highlight

In Year 3, Fridays are extra exciting because we dedicate part of our maths lesson to playing maths games! These games are carefully chosen to strengthen our understanding while keeping learning fun and engaging.

This week, we focused on addition and subtraction skills. Students played Addition and Subtraction Monopoly and Roll and Solve. These games encouraged students to practise their number facts, think strategically, and solve problems quickly and accurately.

Playing maths games helps to:

• Build fluency with number facts
• Strengthen mental maths strategies
• Increase confidence when solving problems

• Encourage positive attitudes toward mathematics

   

Through hands-on, interactive learning, students are able to deepen their understanding while staying motivated and engaged. It’s wonderful to see them supporting one another, explaining their thinking, and celebrating their successes.
