Sports Update
It has been a fantastic and active start to the year in Physical Education and school sport! Students are already demonstrating great teamwork, sportsmanship, and enthusiasm as they participate in a variety of activities.
Interschool Sport
Our Term 1 interschool sport program is underway, with students proudly representing our school in basketball, tee-ball, and cricket. We wish all teams the best of luck and thank them for their commitment and positive attitude.
Swimming Gala: 25 February
Selected students from Years 3–6 attended the Swimming Gala on 25th February. This is always an exciting event, and we look forward to seeing our swimmers give their best effort in the pool.
After School Programs & Clinics
There are several fantastic opportunities for students to get involved in sport this term:
- Kelly Sports sessions have resumed on Mondays
- Free Cricket Promotional Sessions will run after school on Tuesdays from Weeks 5–8, providing students with a fun chance to build their skills
A Hockey Clinic for Year 5–6 students will be held on 10th March.
Lunchtime Clubs
Students can also stay active during lunch with our sporting clubs:
- Free AFL Girls Skills Sessions take place every Monday at lunchtime for Grade 5–6 students.
Junior Sports Club, run by Grace, is held on Wednesdays at lunchtime and will focus on developing soccer skills in a fun and supportive environment.
PE Learning Focus
Junior Students
In Physical Education lessons, our junior students are currently building their understanding of basketball, with a focus on fundamental skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, and basic game awareness. It has been wonderful to see students growing in confidence while encouraging and supporting one another.
Senior Students
Senior students are extending their basketball knowledge by focusing on offensive and defensive strategies. They are developing their ability to work collaboratively, create space, apply pressure, and think tactically during gameplay.
We look forward to an energetic term ahead and encourage all students to get involved, try new activities, and most importantly. Have fun!
Performing Arts
Lunchtime Performing Arts Club
Each Tuesday at lunchtime, students are invited to build their Performing Arts skills while enjoying a variety of engaging activities. In Term One, our focus is Drama, with students developing their characterisation skills and participating in fun improvisation games. These sessions provide valuable opportunities to build confidence, collaborate with others, and creatively express ideas.
Year 3 Drama
In Drama this term, Year 3 students have been learning to listen carefully and respond to their peers’ ideas while working together to create performances.
One of our recent activities, ‘Scene It!’, focused on teamwork and observation skills. The class was divided into two groups, with each group given a different scene to recreate, such as a beach. Students discussed their ideas and worked together to plan a Freeze Frame (a still picture created with their bodies).
To add excitement, a large curtain was held between the groups while they set up their positions. When the sheet was dropped, the audience group viewed the scene and guessed what was happening, where the scene was set, and what action was taking place. Students identified individual characters and explained their thinking by referring to body shape, facial expression, position and gesture.
It has been wonderful to see students' confidence and teamwork continue to grow.

Year 4 Drama
This term in Drama, Year 4 students have been developing their dramatic skills by using their body and facial expressions to bring an idea to life! Additionally, they’ve practised staying in role for a sustained period of time.
One activity students have particularly enjoyed is the ‘Martha Game’. Participation helps build focus, spontaneity and teamwork, whilst encouraging them to use expression to introduce and sustain a character.
It begins with one student stepping into the space and saying, ‘I am a tree.’ Another student then joins the scene, for example, ‘I am a dog under the tree.’ This continues until all students are in the performance space. As each student enters, they take their position and freeze. By the end, the class has created a complete frozen tableau (a still scene), demonstrating collaboration and creativity.
It’s been wonderful to see students growing in confidence as they work together to build imaginative and expressive scenes.

Italian
This term, our Year 3 students have been introduced to the Italian language and are beginning their exciting journey as young language learners. They have explored where Italy is located on the world map and discovered some famous landmarks, including the Colosseum, the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the canals of Venice. Students are learning how to greet others and introduce themselves in Italian, practising phrases such as Ciao, Buongiorno and Mi chiamo…. We are building confidence in speaking and listening as students begin to use simple Italian in the classroom.
Oral Language
In our Oral Language Program, P–2 students are developing their speaking and listening skills through rich, play-based learning experiences. This term, students are beginning to explore the Italian language through engaging stories and songs, building confidence as they practise simple greetings, vocabulary and everyday phrases in meaningful contexts.
Students are also becoming immersed in drama by exploring key elements such as voice, movement and expression. Through role play, Readers Theatre and imaginative play-based activities, they are learning to collaborate, take turns, and express ideas clearly.
Visual Arts
This term, our Visual Art program has been full of colour and energy. Year 1 and 2 students have been creating vibrant gelato-inspired artworks using painted paper collage, exploring layering, colour mixing, and texture.
Inspired by the 2026 Winter Olympics, Year 4 students explored movement in drawing through the bold, energetic style of Keith Haring. They designed vibrant Olympic athlete figures, using strong lines and expressive poses to vividly capture the action and excitement of winter sports.
Art Club
The Art room is open to all year levels every Thursday at lunchtime. It’s been wonderful to see so much creativity in action, from box constructions and drawing to oil pastels and even some sewing!
Innovation Technology
Year 5 Innovation Tech
Our Year 5 students are focusing on Digital Technologies this year, building their understanding of how technology shapes and supports our world. This term, they have been exploring artificial intelligence through hands-on coding with Micro:bits.
In their first Micro:bit lesson this week, students connected their devices and began experimenting with coding words, sounds and images. They were thrilled to see their programs come to life instantly on their Micro:bits, experiencing firsthand how their code translates into real-time outcomes.
It has already proven to be an engaging and highly motivating unit, with students showing great excitement and curiosity as they see the tangible results of their learning.
Senior STEM Club
We have had a fantastic turn out of over 30 students to our Senior Stem Club. This club for Years 4-6 aims to support students who love STEM to build their confidence and knowledge to build, innovate and create. This term we are focussing on the engineering behind gaming. Students have designed their own gaming controller with features they think players need to be successful in their game play. It has been a great way for students to work with peers from other classes and gather materials to make a unique or replica controller and even a console!
Senior & Junior ICT Club
By far one of the most highly sought after clubs is our ICT Clubs!
Senior ICT Club is a great chance to spend a Friday afternoon at snack, teaming up with your friends on a Minecraft build challenge or creating something unique using a program from Innovation Tech to continue to develop skills learned in the classroom. Students practise appropriate and informed decision making when selecting a program and regularly discuss new programs to try with the teacher.
In Junior ICT Club, we have been focusing on staying safe while using a range of different programs. Students have been learning about safe online behaviours, including how to use devices responsibly and follow our school expectations. We have also been practising how to log on independently to our brand-new devices, building confidence and developing important technology skills.
Senior eSports
It is really exciting to have established two out of three of our Senior eSports teams in the Fuse Cup this year.
Congratulations to the following children representing our school:
Rocket League (Term 2): Jake, Shaanuja, Patrick S & Leo (Year 6 students)
Just Dance (Term 3): Hargun, Liesel, Shenaya (Year 6) & Celine (Year 5)
Stay tuned for the try outs for our Mario Kart team!
Catholic Education Week Art Show (Media Artwork)
Four of our Year 6 Students will be displaying work from Media Arts in 2025 in the Catholic Education Week Art Exhibition!
Christ beside me: Walking in the footsteps of Saint Patrick.
This year’s theme celebrates the significance of Saint Patrick, the patron saint of our local Church in Melbourne.
In 2026, Catholic Education Week & Creative Arts Exhibition will run from Sunday 15 March to Saturday 21st March 2026.
Congratulations to
Patrick L, George, Janelle & Susie (Year 6) on their incredible Minecraft Churches. We can’t wait to see them in the Exhibition!
