Last Sunday was Palm Sunday the beginning of Holy week.

Whilst presiding over Palm Sunday Mass in St. Peter’s Square, Pope Leo, reflected on the Passion of Christ, he said Jesus revealed a different kind of kingship, one rooted in peace, humility, and self-giving love, even in the face of violence.

He called Jesus the “King of Peace,” and pointed to moments in the Passion where Christ rejected violence. He recalled how Jesus stopped His disciple from using a sword during His arrest and chose not to defend Himself, even when facing death on the cross.

“He revealed the gentle face of God, who always rejects violence,” the Pope said.

Quoting the prophet Isaiah, “Even though you make many prayers, I will not listen: your hands are full of blood” (Isaiah 1:15)—the Pope warned against using religion to justify war.

“Jesus is the King of Peace, who rejects war, whom no one can use to justify war,” he said,

“He does not listen to the prayers of those who wage war, but rejects them,” and stands with the innocent and oppressed.

“Christ, King of Peace, cries out again from His cross: God is love! Have mercy! Lay down your weapons! Remember that you are brothers and sisters!” he said.

As we move through these days of Holy week culminating in Jesus' resurrection on Sunday, we express hope for an end to war, injustice, and suffering. In the joy of the resurrection, we remain true in our own mission to live with faithfulness and peace.

As term one draws to an end, I thank you all for responding with generosity and compassion to support those who are suffering. During our Lenten efforts we were able to present Caritas with $2000. This financial support along with our prayers will be gratefully received and make a significant impact for many.

Parish Easter Celebrations

The times for all of the Easter celebrations in our Parish are located in our newsletter. We invite all in our School Community to join us this Thursday at 9.30am for the children's presentation of Holy Week.

School finishes at 2.20pm on Thursday, we hope you all have a restful and safe holiday before returning refreshed for term 2 on Tuesday 21st of April. (Monday 20th April is a professional learning day for all staff in Catholic Education Sandhurst Limited, CESL. This is a pupil free day.)

Our children have had a wonderful first term. They have been focused in their learning and considerate and caring towards their classmates at playtimes.

We look forward to building on this strong foundation when we return for term two.
