Library Leaders Excursion

On Monday the 17th of August, the Library Leaders ventured off to Preston Library to listen to a guest speaker. His name was Tristan Bancks, the author of award winning books such as ‘Scar Town’ and ‘Raised by Wolves’. Bancks spent almost two hours talking about the process of writing books, and how he sets himself up to plan and accomplish finishing his stories. There were many other schools that came and listened to his talk, and we all took away something important from the talk. We took away the fact that although something may take a long time, that doesn’t mean it won’t be worth it in the end.

During the talk, Bancks asked for students to raise their hands if they have ever written a story before, and I saw the large amount of hands shoot up. This gave me the idea of setting up a student published display in the library. I realised how many students actually write stories and dream about having them published, but never having the opportunity to get anyone to read them.

Overall, it was an incredible experience, being able to listen to a famous author speak about his experiences was amazing and helped inspire many.
