Health and PE Week

A week of movement and memories!
Thornbury High School recently concluded an incredibly energetic Health and PE Week, celebrating physical activity and school spirit across all year levels. The week was packed with diverse events that catered to different interests and abilities, encouraging teamwork and healthy competition.
Year 7 students ended the week with a spirited Tug of War competition, showcasing incredible strength and teamwork. Shout out to the teachers for jumping in to help their classes, especially Ms. Giarrusso, who I don’t think lost a single battle! Year 8s headed off to the Whittlesea YMCA, where they enjoyed a dynamic day of sports including basketball, beach volleyball, and hockey, allowing them to experience new environments and challenges. As always their behaviour was exceptional, representing Thornbury High extremely well. Year 9 students put their shooting skills to the test in a thrilling 3-point shootout competition.
The older students brought their A-game as well; Year 10 engaged in an exciting 3v3 basketball tournament. Shout out to the year 7 team giving it their all in a Year 10 comp! Oh wait… that was just Socrates!
Finally, our Year 11 and 12 students rounded off the week with a competitive Futsal tournament, demonstrating high-level skill and sportsmanship.
We had our annual Footy Colours Day to round out the week, raising funds for Disability Sport and Recreation.
It was a fantastic week that reminded us all of the joy of moving together and the importance of a healthy lifestyle. Massive shoutout to all the HPE who helped out, the senior students who collected money and to all the students who got involved!
