Snow Camp

In the first week of August, 40 students from Years 7-11 and 4 staff from THS ventured up to Mt Buller for our biennial snow camp.
It was a fantastic week, filled with fresh snow falls, lots of laughs and tumbles, and once again our students did the school so proud across the whole camp. Here’s some reflections from some of the THS snow bunnies:
“This was my first time going snowboarding so on my first day it was so difficult I was already giving up and felt like going home but as I kept trying through the days I got a lot better and I am so grateful that I got to go. I will definitely be going in Year 10 to learn more things and get better.” - James, Yr 8
“As someone who had never skied before, I found this experience was very fun with great instructors allowing me to improve every day.” - Cleo, Yr 11
"I was happy I went because it was a really good experience. I had never skied before and was a bit nervous to try it, but after I did and after I learnt how to do it, it was really fun. I also enjoyed being able to see it snow." - Emily, Yr 11
“I thoroughly enjoyed the snow camp for a number of reasons. The lack of school work and the opportunity to roam semi freely on the slopes was a big one, but more importantly, getting to meet different people from vastly different backgrounds and age groups provided a new perspective on how others see the world. And this is something that this camp does very well, because it has less restrictions than other camps it allows kids to interact with others that they may not otherwise have spoken to in day to day life.
Moving on from that though, it offers an experience that is truly a spectacle with its incredible views and spectacularly close proximity; it encourages kids to step well outside their comfort zone and also sparks interest into an obscure sport.” - Cooper, Yr 10
