Year 9 Edendale Farm Excursion

On Tuesday 11th August, Year 9 Geography classes 9A, 9C and 9E headed out on an excursion to Edendale Farm to explore farming and food production first-hand. Students investigated waste reduction, alternative proteins and sustainable food systems, seeing how these concepts are put into practice at the farm. They learnt all about worm farming and its role in composting and reducing waste and had the chance to meet and pat some of the farm's animals, including llamas, goats, sheep and guinea pigs.
The excursion gave students a valuable opportunity to connect their classroom learning about sustainable food systems to real-world practices, building a deeper understanding of the challenges and innovations shaping the way we produce food. A fun and educational day was had by all!
