Level 6

We're a great mix in Level 6!

It has been a busy 2 weeks of learning and events in Level 6. Two weeks ago we had the HEPS Open Night, where the Level 6 classrooms showcased all the awesome digital technology resources we have at our school. Students particularly loved the VR experience where they got to jump into different East Asian countries, such as Singapore, Japan and Thailand. It was wonderful seeing so many of our students attend and perform their musical pieces!

Literacy

In Reading and Writing we have begun a new Persuasive unit. Students have begun exploring different persuasive texts and identifying persuasive techniques. In the coming weeks, we will be exploring debating and the students will have the opportunity to participate in a formal debate. This ties in nicely with our Inquiry unit - Politics and Power, where students have observed the different debates that happen in Parliament.

Maths

In recent weeks we have been exploring measurement, particularly perimeter and area. The big hit of the past 2 weeks has been using Minecraft Education, where students designed a house and calculated the total perimeter and area of their build. This was a super engaging way for the students to interact with this form of measurement and we saw some pretty cool builds.

Numeracy Day

We had a great day celebrating Numeracy Day on Tuesday. Students explored different maths games and created a variety of tessellations, which then created some awesome artworks!
