Level 2

Reading/Writing
We have been learning to write persuasive pieces using our OREO (Opinion, Reason, Evidence, Opinion) planning template and using engaging strategies such as rhetorical questions and alliteration. We have also practiced our inferencing skills in Reading, using our prior knowledge and linking it to what we have read to infer further meaning. These skills are helping us become more confident and skilled readers and writers!
Maths
In Maths, we have been exploring subtraction using the counting on strategy and our number lines to work out an equation. We played a fun subtraction game called ‘Find the Difference Face Off’ where we used a 20-sided dice and built towers with the amounts rolled, making subtraction sums out of the total number of blocks, which reinforced our learning. We have started to explore the link between addition and subtraction and how this helps us in our day-to-day life.
Simultaneous Storytime
Simultaneous Storytime took place on Wednesday 21st May. As a school we all read the same book at exactly 12pm. This year, over 2 million people participated in this event at the exact same time! The kids enjoyed reading ‘The Truck Cat’ altogether and doing some fun activities relating to the book.
