World's Greatest Shave

On Friday the 29th of August,  we held a 'World’s Greatest Shave' event to raise money and awareness for the Leukaemia Foundation. Here are some shoutouts to people who were involved on the day:

  • Antonina Lyubivaya and Yin Chi Chen (Year 12), who generously donated over 20cm of hair each. Their locks have been sent off to be made into wigs
  • Ayden Prinzler (Year 12), Ewan Walker, Felix Somers, Grayson McPharlin, Jordan Marcelic (Year 11) and Lucas Forbes (Year 7), who all showed amazing support by having their heads shaved
  • Jaye Cleur, Zedekiah Carr, and Harper Delves (Year 12), who did an incredible job giving everyone haircuts
  • The student leaders who organised and ran a bake sale on the day to raise additional funds

The SRC set a fundraising target of $1,000. Thanks to donations collected online, the bake sale, and gold coin donations from the casual clothes day, we raised an incredible $1,833.90. An amazing effort!

Thank you so much to everyone who played a part on the day and to all who donated. The Leukaemia Foundation supports Australians facing blood cancer.

Battle of the Bands

On Wednesday 10th of September, the SRC hosted the annual Battle of the Bands in the Phoenix Theatre, a fantastic night celebrating student talent through singing, rapping, instrumental performances, and of course - bands!

Congratulations to our prize winners!

3rd place – Lapo Franchi (Year 11), who wowed the crowd with two Italian rap songs. The audience may not have understood the lyrics, but they definitely felt the rhythm!

2nd place – Rap Godz (Aurora Hibble and Sophie Thomas, Year 11), who performed an original rap, complete with amazing outfits and stage presence to match.

1st place – 4cast! (Ocean Premkumar, Sam Blackley, Patrick McLoughlin – all Year 11, and Spandan Carpenter – Year 10). They opened with an instrumental rendition of Isn’t She Lovely by Stevie Wonder, before surprising the audience by bringing Dylan Anderson Smith onstage to join the band for a fantastic performance of Now or Never by Kendrick Lamar. The crowd went wild, chanting for an encore, and 4cast delivered, closing the night with Can I Get a Kiss by Tyler, the Creator.

A special shoutout also goes to Perla Maloney (Year 10), who sang Firework by Katy Perry, and Nicolas Soto Valdes, who rocked the stage with a bass solo of For Whom the Bell Tolls by Metallica.

A huge thank you to the team who made the night run so smoothly: Sarah Rooks(sound desk), Darcy Beswick (lighting), Sophia Gynther (Stage Manager) Arthur Paltos and Anthony Chen (Backstage Crew), Becky Jollie, Harper Delves and June Buchan (Judges), Lucia Stephens and Bethany Aarons (MCs) and members of the Parent’s Committee for running ticket sales and organsing food and drinks in the foyer.

Thanks to ticket sales, we raised an incredible $1,160, which will go towards purchasing new musical equipment for future performances.

Thank you to everyone who performed, supported, and helped make Battle of the Bands such a memorable night!
