Term 3 was our biggest yet in the Careers and Pathways program here at Elwood College.
Our Year 7 and 8 students took part in the Junior School Pathways Week, where they explored their interests, skills, and career options, as well as participating in engaging workshops delivered by Crazy Ideas College.
Year 9 students completed the My Career Insights program, which profiles their skills, interests, and abilities, and links these to future subject choices and career options. Students who completed the profiling also had an interview with a careers practitioner to better understand their results. They now have lifetime access to their profiles and can continue exploring their results online. Any Year 9 students who missed out can contact Ms Hanley to arrange access.
Year 10 students spent the term exploring their subject choices for 2026 and beyond through the subject selection process. They were highly engaged during the Senior School information sessions and asked thoughtful questions during the Domain Stalls with our teachers. Some students also attended VET taster days at Kangan Institute to experience what different courses involve. We concluded the term with Year 10 Pathways Week, which included Mock Interviews to help students prepare for the world of work, resume writing workshops, and a staff panel sharing their diverse career journeys, a powerful reminder that many different pathways can lead to similar destinations. The week ended with a city excursion, where students participated in a scavenger hunt across The University of Melbourne and RMIT campuses.
