Term 3 saw students focusing on the future with students in Years 8 to 10 have completing their subject selections for 2026.
Year 10 students have engaged in a series of pathways activities to help prepare them for Year 11. Highlights included a mock interview session coordinated by Ms Duffy, where students were interviewed by volunteers for simulated job roles and received feedback the following day on their performance and employability. Students also took part in a careers panel, where teachers shared insights into their own career journeys. Next year we would like to include parents or alumni with interesting career journeys, so please contact Emily Duffy duf@elwood.vic.edu.au if you would like to be involved.
The week concluded with a city excursion. Students explored RMIT and the University of Melbourne through self-guided tours, and visited the Melbourne Museum's "Road to Zero" exhibit, directly connecting to their ongoing studies in Future Directions focused on road safety.
Year 9 Camp – Rumbug
Ninety-two Year 9 students attended Rumbug Camp in Foster, located near Wilsons Promontory, amidst scenic rolling hills. All students participated in the Master’s Program, alternating between a day of outdoor activities and cabin accommodation and a day of hiking with overnight stays in tents. Despite some challenging weather conditions -particularly for those hiking on the second day students showed resilience and teamwork. Everyone returned home safely, albeit a little muddy and tired, but with great stories to tell.
