Junior School Career Week Wrap-Up

As part of Career Week, our Year 7 and 8 students engaged in activities designed to help them reflect on their strengths, values, and aspirations for the future. They explored how the world of work is changing, identified key future-ready skills, and began to shape their own “Future Ready Plan.”

Year 7 – Values in Action: Students reflected on what matters most to them and how their personal values can guide their choices in life and school. They created a personalised Values in Action Plan to put these into practice in their everyday lives.

Year 8 – Cyber Lab: Students explored the impact of technology on their habits and relationships, and considered how they want to present themselves online. They learned practical strategies to align their digital presence with their real-world values and future goals.

Break times in the Library:

We have made a few changes to how the Library is used during break times to help keep it a great space to relax, focus, and have fun!

Recess:

The Library is now laptop-free during recess. Students are still welcome to come in to quietly read or play board games with friends.

Lunch:

Each day at lunch will have a different focus. Here’s what students can expect:

Monday: Quiet study or homework – laptops allowed

Tuesday: Book Club – no laptops

Wednesday: Board games – no laptops

Thursday: Quiet study or homework – laptops allowed

Friday: Board games – no laptops

Reach workshops

Our Year 7 and Year 8 students participated in workshops designed to support their well-being and personal growth. These sessions created a safe and supportive space where students could share experiences, reflect on challenges, and strengthen their connections with one another. Feedback from both staff and students has been very positive.

Below are some ReachOut resources to support parents in having conversations with their young person at home.

A reminder that Homework Club is available for all students each week on Wednesday afternoons from 3:30 pm-4:30 pm. This is a great opportunity for students to get additional support with their work, stay on top of tasks, and develop good study habits.
