Ethan Excels on the Cross Country Stage

Ethan has enjoyed an outstanding cross country season, representing his region, state and school at some of Australia's highest levels of competition.

In early July, Ethan competed at the Queensland Athletics State Cross Country Championships in Brisbane, finishing an impressive 8th place. This result earned him selection in the Queensland Team, and a few weeks later he travelled to Ballarat to compete at the National Athletics Cross Country Championships. Despite challenging conditions that were cold, wet and incredibly muddy, Ethan crossed the finish line in 51st place out of 80 runners from across the country.

Ethan continued his strong form in late July when he represented Peninsula at the State Schools Cross Country Championships in Toowoomba. He achieved a personal best performance, finishing 13th overall. Ethan also competed as part of the Peninsula relay team, helping secure a silver medal with a second-place finish.

Congratulations, Ethan, on your remarkable achievements and dedication throughout the cross country season. We look forward to seeing what you accomplish next!

Tuesday Afternoon Run Club

Students who qualified for the Track & Field State Championships at Peninsula Trials last month have been given the opportunity to participate in additional run training sessions on a Tuesday afternoon at school.

Miss Laura, who usually works in Student Services, also holds a Level 2 Athletics Coaching qualification and has generously offered to run a weekly session to support students on their journey to the State Championships.

The training sessions focus on developing running technique, speed, endurance, and race preparation, while also helping students build confidence and set personal goals. It has been fantastic to see the students' commitment and enthusiasm each week as they challenge themselves and continue to improve. We are incredibly proud of their dedication and look forward to watching them represent our region & school at the upcoming State Championships.

We wish all our athletes the very best in their preparations and competition.

Watch this space for run club next year!

Interschool Touch Football Competition Team

Throughout Term 3, our Senior Touch Football Team competed each Wednesday afternoon at the Atherton International Club against teams from Atherton State High School and Ravenshoe State High School.

The competition provided students with the opportunity to develop their skills, teamwork and sportsmanship while representing St Stephen’s Catholic College with pride. After a strong season of competition, the team achieved an impressive third-place finish overall.
