QAMT Maths Quiz Success
On Friday 14 August, nineteen students proudly represented our school in Round 1 of the Queensland Association of Mathematics Teachers (QAMT) Maths Quiz held at SSCC. Students competed against teams fromacross the region, demonstrating their mathematical reasoning, problem-solving skills and teamwork.
We are delighted to announce that Claire Bateman, Claire Parker and Ruby Quadrio achieved an outstanding result, finishing in first place with 22 points. Congratulations to all students who participated and represented the school so well. We look forward to Round 2 of the competition, which will be held in Week 2 of Term 4.
Year 9 Maths Enrichment Camp
Nine of our Year 9 students recently spent three days at the Wildside Adventure Centre, immersing themselves in an exciting and rewarding camp experience centred around the theme"Building Strong Connections."
Throughout the camp, students participated in a wide range of activities designed to challenge them, encourage teamwork and foster personal growth. Whether working together to overcome obstacles, supporting one another through new experiences or stepping outside their comfort zones, students embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm and determination.
The camp will provide students with opportunities to engage in outdoor adventurous activities while exploring how mathematics is applied in real-life situations. Through hands-on experiences and practical problem-solving challenges, students will develop a deeper appreciation of the relevance of mathematics beyond the classroom.
