Term 3 FNQ Chess Tournament

Chess Team has qualified for State Finals!

Our St Stephen's chess teams achieved an outstanding result at the FNQ Chess Competition, with St Stephen's qualifying for the State Finals for the first time since 2023.

Team 1, comprising Tom Fenner, Patrick McCarthy, Ruben Jr. Longakit and Jake Cook, finished an impressive second in Far North Queensland, just two games behind TAS and comfortably ahead of St Augustine's College in third place.

Team 2, made up of Christian Salvetti, Samuel Sunny, Jonathan Falvo and Ashley King, also played a crucial role in the team's success. Their strong performances included important victories against several contender schools, helping secure St Stephen's qualification for the State Finals.

Every St Stephen's student who participated recorded at least one win throughout the day, highlighting the depth of talent, determination and teamwork across both teams.
