VCE VM Report

Horse Float Community Van Flip Proposal

Overview

As part of our PDS and WRS units, we need to plan a community project. While we have explored many different options and issues to focus on, we are all very keen to make a difference to our local community. We hope to do this by ‘flipping’ a donated horse float into a community hub van that we can run for our local community and businesses.

Goals

  1. We hope to bring a smile to our community by serving hot drinks and snacks.
  2. Use skills we have learnt in our VET courses to bring the community van to life.

To cover costs, we hope to connect with businesses to receive their time and materials in return for providing a community service. Also, we would like to clean out a section of the school and sell items no longer used to fund our proposal. Running fundraisers for our ‘warm hearts for mental health’ van. Many Year 12 VCE VM students have undergone their barista course last year and those we haven’t, hope to complete it in Term 4 this year.

When will our van be used?

We will have a rostering system that will allow everyone an opportunity to run the van before school hours. We have also thought about the possibility of towing the van to various locations to promote mental health awareness and bring a smile to everyone’s faces.

Bringing people together with affordable drinks and snacks. Our vision is to convert a small horse float into a chic mobile coffee cart, refreshing our community with affordable food and drink. Through re-purposing our beautiful float, we are not only able to provide a convenient coffee for our locals, but also a welcoming social atmosphere.

Our coffee cart won’t just be a thriving business & learning opportunity for our students, but also a hub for community activity, promoting the school’s involvement with local events.

Additionally, a portion of our profits will directly benefit the city of Moonee Valley, through donations to youth services. We aim for our cart to act as an opportunity for social change.

How can we raise money?

Our Proposal:

• Plan and organise a fundraising event to connect the VCE VM program with the school community and raise.

• Address the educational outcomes in VCE VM curriculum.

• Use the fundraising money to buy curriculum materials to build our community coffee cart. We are aiming for $5,000!!

• Our coffee cart won’t just be a thriving business & learning opportunity for our students, but also a hub for community activity, promoting the school’s involvement with local events.
