SCHOOL BANDS EXTRAVAGANZA

Wednesday 21st August the Lions Club of Sebastopol sponsored School Bands Extravaganza which was staged in the Robinson Centre Theatre.

This was the 10th iteration of this community event that showcases school music ensembles and raises money for the Ballarat Day Oncology Unit.

Our Senior Stage Band was featured on the night and Whizbang was a late inclusion to the program after another school had to cancel.

Well done to all staff and students that contributed to the success of this wonderful community engagement.

CHAMBER CONCERT

Wednesday 28th August saw music students from Years 7 to 12 perform in small groups covering a wide variety of music across genre, time and complexity in our Chamber Concert.

All students performed to a high standard and gained further experience in live performance, which is such an important part of their musical studies.

The concert concluded with all students joining together in collaborative celebration.

Well done to all on staging such a great show.

WHIZPHUNKESTRA WORKSHOP & PERFORMANCE

Thursday 29th August, Whizbang joined forces with Phoenix P-12 Community College's Phoenix Phunk in a collaboration and celebration of original music. In the lead up to the event, each ensemble had shared a song for preparation and on the day, these were rehearsed along with the composition of a brand-new piece.

The combined ensemble performed to Year 7 students in the afternoon before taking to the stage in the evening to play a set each and then in combination for the debut of The WhizPhunkestra and the world premiere of a brand-new piece.

Congratulations to all students involved who worked so well together in both rehearsal and performance.

Many thanks to Phoenix Phunk for joining us and BJ Humphrey for his great work on the day.
