Year 11 Report

Congratulations to all Year 11 students on finishing up Term 3! It has been another productive term, and the Year 11 team have enjoyed seeing our students continue to grow in their learning and in themselves as young adults.  It was great to be able to discuss student achievement and plans for 2027 with parents and students at the parent-teacher conferences last week. Thanks to all parents and carers who were able to take the time to have these important discussions with staff.

VCE students have been busy in the second half of this term with many SACs, EOLs, and other assessment tasks as the Unit 2 coursework nears completion. We are excited to be taking our VCE cohort to visit the Swinburne University campus in Hawthorn in the first week of Term 4, offering them the opportunity to experience a day in the life of a Swinburne student.  They will then sit their Unit 1-2 exams during weeks six and seven of Term 4 (12th to 18th November).  VCE students have been given holiday homework to complete, and they should also begin to revise for their Unit 1-2 exams during the break. We appreciate your support at home in ensuring that students have a suitable study space and time to complete this important work.

Our VM students have been focused on many different projects in the past few weeks, including creating and operating a very successful market stall day a couple of weeks ago.  It was great to see the school community engaging with our students at the wide variety of stalls. In Personal Development Skills, students have been exploring different community groups to gain an understanding of various disabilities and challenges faced by people within these communities.  Students have participated in a range of activities, including deaf/blind/mute baking, blind scavenger hunts, and other games, and wheelchair basketball.

In our end of term assemblies this week, we celebrated students who had been recognised by their teachers for demonstrating our school values of connection, respect and growth.  It was impressive to have so many awards to give out, and it really shows just how much our Year 11 students have stepped up in their approach to their VCE and VCE VM studies this year.  We are very proud of all of them.

Finally, we would like to remind parents and carers that there will be important communications coming out early in Term 4 about events happening as your child transitions into Year 12.  Please keep an eye out for these on Compass and via email; we appreciate you actioning anything that needs to be done as soon as you can.  This year's rollover runs from the 23rd of November to the 4th of December, and attendance during these two weeks is compulsory.  If you have any questions about this, please contact us at school.
