IMPORTANT VTAC application REMINDER for Parents & Carers of current Yr12 students
Nossal’s Year 12 students received two information sessions about applying for courses, Equity Schemes and Scholarships through the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC). They have also been given resources, instructions, and walkthrough videos to guide them, along with regular reminders of application requirements and deadlines. All this information is available to Year 12 students in the Class of 2026 Careers channel on Teams.
Important steps students should have completed in their VTAC account:
- Submit at least one course preference in their VTAC application.
- Pay the VTAC application processing fee ($83 for timely applications) – after making payment, students can change the courses listed in their course preferences as many times as they wish at no extra cost until change of preference closes on 12 December. See the VTAC key dates for further information.
- Only after doing the two steps above, can students then access the Equity Schemes and Scholarships application in their VTAC account to complete it before 9 October deadline.
What students should be completing in their VTAC account:
The Equity Schemes and Scholarships application can take time, and most categories require supporting documents that need to be organised and submitted well before the closing date of 9 October. Students have been advised to start this application in their VTAC account as early as possible by carefully following VTAC’s instructions and requirements.
- Students are to use the VTAC application walkthrough videos to complete each step of the application process.
- VTAC’s website has important advice on what is required when providing evidence, including writing an impact statement and getting a statement of support
- Students must give the person writing their supporting statement this 'Providing a Statement of Support' factsheet so they understand what is required and how to do it.
VTAC application deadlines:
- 18 September: VTAC’s recommended document submission date – students were encouraged to submit supporting documents by this date to allow time to make any changes or additions before the Equity Schemes and Scholarships application closing date.
- 28 September (5pm): Submit a VTAC course application to pay the $83 application fee (late applications cost $166-$208) andapplying to some courses CLOSE – check this list of early closing courses which includes Medicine and Fine Arts, because these courses cannot be added to the VTAC course application after this closing deadline.
- 9 October (5pm): Equity Schemes and Scholarships applications CLOSE. Applications must be completed and all required supporting documents submitted by this deadline.
- 12 December (12 noon): Change of Preference CLOSES for first round offers. Only course applications that have been submitted and paid will be considered for course offers. Some courses close for applications earlier, including the 28 September deadline noted above.
