Nossal’s Outstanding Performance at Division Athletics

On Monday 7 September, Nossal once again proved its strength in athletics at the Casey North Division Athletics Carnival. The day commenced at 10am and concluded with the final 18–20s Relay at 2pm. Despite challenging conditions early in the day, Nossal’s athletes remained determined and continued to perform at their best.

The first two hours of competition were particularly difficult, with strong headwinds and persistent rain affecting events such as the 100m, javelin and the long-distance races. However, our fierce athletes persevered, with many competitors securing gold medals and earning their place at the SMR Athletics Carnival on Tuesday 6 October. Nossal also delivered some exceptional performances in the field events, with Bawin Subakaran (18–20s) taking first place in all three of his jumping events: high jump, long jump and triple jump. In the running events, Hilary Green (18–20s), Jack Huang (18–20s) and Dinath Silva (17s) also performed exceptionally well across multiple events.

As the day progressed, the weather began to improve. The sun emerged and the wind eased up, creating a much more enjoyable atmosphere for competitors and spectators. The relay events were a particular highlight, with the 16s, 17s and 18–20s Boys and Girls teams all securing first place in their respective relays. Their impressive performances brought plenty of excitement to the final stages of the carnival.

Overall, the day was a fantastic display of Nossal’s determination, talent and spirit. Thanks to the support of our wonderful staff and helpers, who ensured the events ran smoothly, as well as the outstanding efforts of every competitor, Nossal was once again able to finish the carnival on top.

Congratulations to all of our athletes and good luck at Regionals!
