ALTAR SERVER

A special role in our church is that of an Altar Server.  Altar servers assist the priest and help the Mass run smoothly. They show respect for God by serving carefully and prayerfully. Altar servers lead the procession at the beginning of Mass. They carry the cross or candles at the beginning and end of Mass. During the Mass, they assist the priest by bringing the missal to the priest, holding items the priest needs during Mas and helping set up the altar. During the Liturgy of the Eucharist they bring the bread, wine and water to the altar and ring the bells. 

Fr Bona, Miss Myles (St Helena’s Catholic Primary School) and Mr Bateman (Holy Cross College) are running an altar server training session for any baptised Catholics in Year Four or above on Tuesday 11th August. Students will then be able to serve at school Masses, and if they wish, eventually at Parish Masses. If your child is interested in becoming an Altar Server, please fill out form.
