The SOC community would like to congratulate the following students who have progressed to the Regional round of the Athletics Championships. We are especially proud of our relay teams who managed to win 6 out of the 12 relay races at the division level, the highest number of relay winners we've ever had.

Boys Senior Netball
MORE SUCCESS!
A huge congratulations to our senior boys netball team for winning Netball Victoria’s Boys Championship. After finishing 2nd in the qualifying rounds, the boys played 6 group games, finishing first, undefeated, scoring 78 and conceding just 47. They won the semi final by 6 and the grand final by 11 points. They have won this tournament for 2 years in a row now. For a lot of the boys, this will be their final participation in our school sports. Well done on a great representation of our school. We are proud of all of you!

Hopes were high heading into the tournament as we had been practicing for weeks before this. In the first game against Wellington, we were down by 7 with 30 seconds left before George and Nicholas each hit a clutch 3 to cut the lead down to 1. Unfortunately the scores stayed like that for the rest of the game. In the next game against Brentwood, we fought a close battle throughout the whole game but ultimately, our efforts were left unrewarded as we lost the match by 2 points.
With our morale lowered we jumped into the third game unsure of the outcome. But with huge defensive efforts from Noah, Andrew, and Ishaan, we shut Wheelers Hill down and won by 8. Our last game of the day was against John Monash where neither of us could progress though regardless of the outcome. With this knowledge, we had a fun game where Nicholas scored 22 points and Aiden & Peter both made half-court shots.
But the biggest moment of the day was when Pantelis scored an open layup with 5 seconds left to extend the lead to 10 points just before the buzzer and scored his first ever point of the day! Overall, we finished the day in 2nd place, our school’s best ever Basketball results.
