PREMIERS’ READING CHALLENGE 2026

Another successful Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge at South Oakleigh College has come to an end!

Congratulations to all the students who participated in and completed the challenge. What an incredible achievement!

Throughout the challenge, our students demonstrated dedication, persistence and enthusiasm as they embarked on a wonderful reading journey. They explored an exciting variety of books, from fiction and non-fiction to manga and biographies.

Hundreds of books were read, registered and logged, with students completing 10 books from the Premier’s Reading Challenge booklist and 5 personal choices.

The biggest challenge for both our avid readers and those who are a little less enthusiastic about reading was perhaps deciding which books to choose from the fantastic range available. There were simply so many great books and so little time!

We are extremely proud of all our students who took part and challenged themselves to read, discover and explore new worlds through books.

Keep reading! The benefits of reading extend far beyond the challenge itself, and we hope this experience has helped to inspire and nurture a lifelong love of reading.

Well done to everyone who participated and happy continuous reading!

Students participated in storytelling sessions, book-themed quizzes, character dress-ups, creative activities, discussions about their favourite books and authors and even a book swap where students brought their own pre-loved books with a mini recommendation and swapped them with others.

The activities provided students with opportunities to use their imagination, share their reading experiences, and develop greater interest in books, poetry and reading.
