Student Leadership

Our 2025 SLC Vision:

Uniting Camden High School; Driving School Culture; Engaging the Community; Supporting Good Causes; and Leaving Camden High School A Better Place

This year our focuses will be:

  • Raising the profile of STEM and our STEM achievements at Camden High

  • Supporting Blue Wren House – a local charity supporting women and their children in times of crisis

  • Engaging our school and local community in the Camden Versus Cowra exchange

  • Raising awareness of maintaining strong mental health with a focus on young men’s mental fitness

International Women’s Day

Camden High School celebrated International Women’s Day on Friday 7th March. This year's theme was Accelerate Action. Senior Leadership students, led by captains Paige and Claire, held a bake sale with all money raised being donated to Blue Wren House in Camden. The student’s efforts raised over $400 to help support vulnerable women in our local community. Paige and Claire also represented Camden High School with Mrs Woods and Mrs Kedward at the annual Camden Council International Women’s Day gala event.

Sydney Secondary Youth Leadership Conference

On March 14th, senior leadership students attended the Sydney Secondary Youth Leadership Conference at the ICC in Sydney. Students listened to inspiring talks by young leaders in different avenues of success across Australia. They were able to participate in networking opportunities with leaders from secondary school across Sydney to work collaboratively on common issues. Students obtained valuable skills and frameworks to support their leadership visions for upcoming events and fundraising opportunities.

Camden High School has also been elected to participate in the ‘LeaderUp’ 10-week program focusing on enacting positive change for big issues in your school. At the end of the program, students go in the running to win $2k towards their initiative. Watch this space for some exciting ideas!

Cross Country Carnival

Camden’s Cross Country carnival was the second sporting event for our SLC House Captains. House leaders ran a range of sporting games to promote friendly competition between the house groups to gain extra points. Students displayed excellent organisational, problem-solving, and people skills in conducting and participating in these fun challenges. Congratulations to those involved!

Year 7 – What to be a Leader?

As we near the end of Term 1, SLC is looking to expand our student body to include students in year 7. We are looking for students who display leadership qualities, consistently demonstrate excellent people skills, and are committed to making a positive change at Camden High. Spots are strictly limited so be sure to have your application ready to shine. Look out for more information in the coming weeks.

What’s on in Term 2?

With all that was achieved in the first school term, we have to part ways with our work and look to the future. Next term looks to be a busy one with a few key events lined up for SLC members. Be sure to listen out for more information on these exciting events:

  • Push-up Challenge

  • Camden vs Cowra Exchange

  • World’s Greatest Shave

If you can help the SLC with any of the initiatives mentioned, please reach out to us, we would love to hear from you.
