Mathematics News

Hello Mathematicians!

Congratulations on successfully completing Term 1! Your dedication, hard work, and enthusiasm for learning have been truly commendable. As we wrap up this term, we want to take a moment to acknowledge your efforts and celebrate your achievements in mathematics.

As we prepare for Term 2, it’s important to ensure you have all the necessary resources to support your studies.

Students should come to school prepared with essential supplies, including a scientific calculator, pens, pencils, rulers, glue, and workbooks. A scientific calculator is especially important for Mathematics and can be purchased from the school office.

To stay organized, we encourage families to help students pack their bags the night before. Teachers will support students, but spare equipment may not always be available. A well-stocked pencil case ensures students are ready for lessons without disruptions.

We appreciate families' support in fostering responsibility and good habits. If obtaining supplies is a challenge, please contact your child’s Year Advisor for assistance.

Term 2 Assessment Tasks

As we move towards term 2, it’s important for students to stay on top of their upcoming Mathematics formal assessments. Checking the assessment schedule regularly and planning will help reduce last-minute stress and allow for effective revision.

✅ Revision materials will be provided in class, and additional resources are available on CANVAS to support student learning.

✅ If students are absent from class—especially during revision lessons—it is their responsibility to catch up on missed content outside of class time.

✅ Staying organized and preparing early will help students approach their assessments with confidence!

Year 7 Collaborative Maths in Action!

Our Year 7 students have been hard at work, collaborating in groups on their Term 1 Mathematics Assessment for the Data Collection and Visualisation topic. They explored real-world data by choosing a topic of interest, conducting surveys among their peers, and presenting their findings through a variety of graphs. From dot pots to pie graphs, students showcased their creativity and analytical skills, culminating in engaging infographics that highlighted key insights. This hands-on project not only deepened their understanding of data representation but also strengthened their teamwork and problem-solving abilities!

A friendly reminder that Homework Club (TASC - Teacher Assisted Study Centre) runs on Thursday afternoons from 2-3pm. If you need extra support with your mathematics coursework, this is a great opportunity to receive additional guidance outside of class hours.

As we approach the Easter break, we wish you all a joyful and relaxing holiday. Take this time to recharge, enjoy quality moments with family and friends, and perhaps even explore some fun mathematics along the way!

Warm regards, The Mathematics Faculty
