TAS Upcoming Assessments

 Year 12 Major Projects

The above completion dates may seem far away, but they will be fast upon us, so it is very important that students be working on both PROJECT and PORTFOLIO consistently between now and then. As a guide, students are expected to work at least one hour a week on the portfolio.

Shoes

All students require fully covered black leather shoes to participate in the kitchens and workshops for Work Health and Safety requirements. Students in incorrect footwear are unable to participate and will be set alternate theory work in another supervised class.

Showcasing the work of Year 7

Textiles

Year 7 students who have been studying the Material Technologies: Textiles rotation have had the opportunity this term to sample some fabric decoration techniques such as Applique and Hand Stitching, Tie-dye, Iron on Vinyl, Paint Stick & Couching. They now get to choose at least 2 of these techniques to design and create a recyclable shopping bag that meets the design criteria given to them.

Below are some of the Paint Stick samples they have been working on in class.

Digital Technology

Our Digital Technology classes have been hard at work learning about computer hardware, cyber security and have begun looking into coding.  This is in preparation for their Assessment Task due in week 2 next term, where they will design and code an arcade game using Microsoft Makecode.

Microsoft MakeCode is a free online learn-to-code platform where anyone can build games, code devices, and mod Minecraft.

 Engineered Systems

Our engineers were tasked this term with building a bridge using paddle pop sticks and hot glue. This bridge needed to include principles of engineering learnt in class to see how much weight they could hold.

Here are some photos of students in the testing phase of the bridge activity.

Year 11 Community & Family Studies - Interviews

Year 11 CAFS students are about to submit their first assessment task. They were tasked with interviewing a person who supports an individual with special needs to achieve their goals and better manage their resources.

We are proud of the effort the students have made for their first task in CAFS, developing their own personal management skills to communicate with a member of the community in order to plan & organise an interview.

A BIG thank you goes out to all the wonderful people in our community who graciously agreed to be interviewed by our students; you do an amazing job supporting individuals with special needs and were superstar interviewees.
