Grade 1 News

We have had another wonderful week of learning in Grade 1!

In Maths, students have been busy exploring number patterns and skip counting by 2s, 5s and 10s. We have been doing lots of hands-on learning and using a range of practical activities and games to help build our understanding. The students have particularly loved getting active and having fun while developing their skip-counting skills!

In Literacy, students are continuing to extend their imaginative writing skills. We have been learning about the different parts of a story and what makes a story engaging for the reader.

Students have been exploring:

  • Beginning: introducing the characters, setting and time.
  • Middle: introducing a problem and developing ideas.
  • Ending: providing a solution and describing the characters' end feelings.
  •

Students are enjoying creating their own imaginative stories and are becoming more confident in developing characters, settings and interesting ideas in their writing.

In Religion, students have completed our unit on Daily Life in Jesus’ Time.

Throughout the unit, students have explored a range of stories that helped them develop an understanding of what life was like during Jesus’ time, as well as learning about some of the wonderful miracles Jesus performed.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone’s wonderful Book Week costumes next week!

We can’t wait to celebrate our love of reading together. If your child doesn’t have a costume, that’s absolutely fine- we look forward to them bringing along their favourite picture story book to share with the class.

Thank you for your continued support!
